I've been looking for a PC for a while. As a serious gamer, I need an upgrade from 30fps. But my parents are still against it. I don’t need a super expensive one, but they won’t change their mind. I’ve offered to help by using my saved money and selling my old setup. That would give me around $380, and the PC I want costs about $1,400. Any suggestions?

We don't know your current hardware details, making it hard to give advice. Do you have a link to the 1400 dollar PC?

Discover their willingness to invest in you. There might still be an opportunity, though it could be a little cheaper.

You won't be able to afford a gaming PC for 380 dollars. The best choice seems to be saving more money instead. You might consider purchasing an older refurbished Dell and installing a low-cost graphics card, though you may not enjoy the results.

I understand this, I think it would be best to invest the money in the PC and my parents might be able to contribute the rest.

This idea is great, I've noticed this PC has been heavily discounted recently, so seizing the chance would be smart.

At the 1400 dollar range, I’d probably explore other ready-made choices instead of sticking only with HP. Options like Dell, Lenovo, Dell Outlet, Asus, etc., might be worth considering. If you have a budget of 1400, you could likely achieve a better build for around 1400 or an equivalent model for about 1100. However, making your own might not always be feasible. Pre-built PCs are often criticized for over-specifying RAM, graphics cards, and hard drives, and they push users toward Windows Pro rather than the more flexible Windows Home.

What methods exist for constructing it independently? Are there alternative pre-made options or guidance for building one yourself?
