Button Flash Bios feature and Type A Port design
The Flash BIOS button LED remains inactive. The Type A port only shows a faint glow, but the drive isn’t visible. This issue started last night. It still boots the BIOS flash automatically after clearing CMOS and turning on the PC. Even with the M.Flash update option in BIOS, I can’t access anything on that port. Assistance needed?
We need to back up here. First, list your system specs, we don't even know what motherboard this is and yet you're expecting people to help you troubleshoot a problem with it. What is the goal you are trying to accomplish here? Apparently it's to update your BIOS, but why did you decide you needed to do that? What was the original problem you needed to solve? You say that it "runs the BIOS flash automatically" when you clear CMOS and boot the PC. Does this mean that the BIOS is now updated, or not? You say " Beyond that I cannot access anything on that port." Is all of this just an effort to fix a malfunctioning USB port?
All of this is an effort to fix a malfunctioning type A USB port on a MSI b550m mortar WiFi. It’s running a Ryzen 5 5600x cpu. I initially cleared the cmos and updated the bios in an effort to get past this devices drivers page for installing windows. It didn’t work however and what happens next is I can only just flash a usb upon startup. This happens automatically. When I press the usb flash button the led doesn’t turn on at all. When I plug something into that port nothing shows up on either the bios or OS. Is there a way I can troubleshoot this?
