Burned out MSI MPG X570 Pro Carbon Wi-Fi boards
Hi there, I've been assembling PCs for about two years and have used two MSI MPG X570 Pro Carbon WIFI boards without a display or POST. I went through standard troubleshooting and reached out to MSI Support. I also tried updating the BIOS, but one board was returned within 30 days and there was no S/N label left. Now I'm thinking about using an external flasher like the CH341a. The main issue is figuring out which board has the BIOS chip since it's not clearly marked on the motherboard. Could you help me figure this out?
It seems you're examining a component from an eBay listing. The part appears to be a BIOS chip, likely from the MSI MPG X570 gaming motherboard. It's a carbon-based Wi-Fi/gaming chip designed for performance.
Incorrect information provided. The CPU is correct. BIOS chips are typically labeled by manufacturers, not MSI. The chip is a SOP-8 package with two 4-pin connections.
Did you locate the bios chip on this motherboard? I own one that displays the same issues as yours and I'm considering an external flash, though I’m unsure which chip it is. If I started from scratch, I’d guess it’s the one next to the CMOS battery.
