They really need to give D2 the Realm Reborn treatment. Because I've put maybe 150 hours into the game, and it sucks. There's almost no motivation to even login, I completed the main story and most of the side content of the first "expansion" in like <6 hours. Yes, a 25$ (CAD) has <10 hours of content total [haven't done the "new raid" (it's in the same location as the last one and everything, it's more like adding on to the one in the base game, which is also a joke by the way), and I have no motivation to at this time]
I've invested heavily in questionable items over the past four decades, from misleading Egyptian guides to forgotten basketball tickets and expensive wines. Still, life keeps moving forward, and I remain human despite all the chaos. The ~60€ for Destiny 2 still bothers me—it's pay-to-win, not Battlefront, but it doesn't matter. The idea of power levels is just brain fog, and the so-called community is made up of teenagers who avoid eye contact. Looking back, I'd rather waste that money on something simple and let things unfold naturally. (I admire Darwinism; we should embrace more of it.) Safety rules are unnecessary—let things happen and solve future problems.
I saw ACG's video on this and completely understood his point. His take suggests the developers were perfectly aware of their actions and got caught off guard. He also mentions that it's better for consumers if the developers openly admit they made a mistake and didn’t realize what they were doing, instead of pretending to be perfect and forcing DLC onto people.
It’s clear I believe Bungie and Activision understood their move perfectly. From what I’ve seen, they did something similar with D1 but didn’t face as much backlash. It really irritates me to watch companies say things like “We’ve heard community feedback” or “We recognize our errors and learned from them.” These situations happen repeatedly from the same creators or publishers. They seem to be going around the same ideas without much resistance, which is why things escalate like they did with EA’s Battlefront 2 issues.
