The main reason I’m thinking about upgrading the GPU is that many modern games need a lot of VRAM. Even if I might get this 6700xt, I’d still like your thoughts on it.

Most of them work well, though 1440p can be achieved if the game supports it; the main concern is CPU speed possibly slowing down. 5800X3D scores highly and should not face issues for a few years. 8P cores are reliable for extended use. I personally replace them every few generations, but older CPUs still work for gaming. Newer multiplayer titles increasingly challenge older quad cores and FX processors. (Single player games usually handle strong GPUs without problems.)

GPU upgrades happen more often, so they’re not a major factor. 1440p at 144/165hz feels ideal. The newest 8GB GPUs should perform well if settings stay moderate. Aiming for 144FPS doesn’t require maximum settings, though a future GPU upgrade in two years is possible if needed. (This could be due to new tech demands, mandatory ray-tracing, or built-in AI engines that games depend on.)
