I'm starting my own NAS project. That's true. My current setup is a HP Compaq Pro 6000 SFF DDR3-SDRAM E5400 with Intel® Pentium® 2 GB 320 GB HDD running Windows 7 Professional. I'm considering replacing the two 1GB RAM sticks with two 4GB units and adding two 8TB drives. Will this support PLEX and regular file sharing? Thanks in advance, Noël.

It should function, right? I think PLEX after transcoding demands significantly more memory and a specialized GPU. My NAS operates on Windows 7 shared directories with an Intel Atom processor, making low-spec requirements acceptable for file sharing.
