Approximate Purchase Date:
Acquired old parts in October 2018
Budget Range:
1500- 2500€
System Usage from Most to Least Important:
Gaming (eve online, black desert online), Virtualization, Web/desktop app development, Android emulators, etc.
Are you purchasing a monitor?
Yes, but only one, I require a screen with high resolution so I don’t get stuck at 60fps with non-full-screen mode
Parts to Upgrade:
Likely everything except NVMe drives and possibly the case?
Do you need to install an operating system?
Yes, my Windows license is OEM
Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
I only shop on Amazon; they usually provide refunds even when I have problems or ask questions
Location: Spain
Parts Preferences:
I’m considering upgrading to an AMD Ryzen 5 since it seems more affordable but I’m not certain, I’m open to anything as long as it meets my needs
Overclocking:
Maybe occasionally, only for certain tasks, not continuously
SLI or Crossfire:
Maybe
Monitor Resolution: 2560 * 1440
Additional Comments:
I run dual-boot between Windows and Ubuntu, use VMware, play Eve Online and Black Desert, and often have multiple windows open while multitasking, watching videos, movies, and browsing the internet.
Most importantly, why are you upgrading?
Performance problems – my current hardware isn’t delivering optimal results, I already face some issues, so I want a more robust device that can last at least 6-8 years if possible, or at least until now. I’m willing to keep it in good condition; it’s not dead but it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.

This is my current setup

Can you consider removing any components from the earlier setup and keep the entire system intact?

Here are some useful parts I assembled for your build. I’d consider replacing the CPU coolers; you might need to order or ask for a mounting kit from Noctua. Amazon has them if you act quickly.

It's unclear if using "heatsink" versions of the SSDs is optimal here. Perhaps copying the 500GB drives to the 1TB would work better, but I think a more compact drive would be preferable and leave space for the 500GB drives if required to support the VMs. That X670 Motherboard includes four M.2 slots for future upgrades.

This enables you to incorporate most of your existing parts. For an LGA-1700 adapter for your CPU cooler, reach out to Noctua. You may need to upgrade your PSU based on your GPU selection.

The sku featuring the heatsink was in stock while the alternative wasn't, though both came at different prices. It's always worth using the heatsinks that come with them since they perform better than the ones included on the motherboards anyway. I picked two 1tb drives because he has experience with dual booting and virtual machines before. Additionally, the board I chose includes a third NVMe port for a storage SSD.

I would suggest updating your mobile BIOS, installing the 5800X3D, and using a GPU capable of running games at 2K. A fresh OS install along with software updates could also be beneficial. Your other older parts are top-tier and make excellent selections.

The impact of improving performance compared to purchasing a fully upgraded high-end system from scratch is significant, especially if you're working with limited funds. Reusing existing disks and PSU can make a big difference. Also, adding more RAM with a new BIOS might offer better returns than spending heavily on a new motherboard.

You have two additional RAM slots available for your mobile device. You also have the choice of using a Ryzen 5950X for your virtual machine operations.

There are benchmarks available for games and multitasking to help you compare the 5950X with other models like 7900X3D or 7950X3D.

However, if you prefer AM5 compatibility and the chance to upgrade to newer chips, consider these options:
You may still utilize the existing case storage and possibly the PSU.

Find the appropriate offset mounting bracket for your NH D15 here:

If you're targeting AM5:
