Hey there,
I’m thinking about improving my setup.
Right now I have an i7-8700 on a TUF Z370 Pro Gaming card, a 7900 XT, and 32GB DDR4 RAM.
The system handles my regular tasks and gaming just fine.
But I’ve got some cash that’s really eating into my budget, so I’m considering an upgrade.
My main focus is gaming at 1080p (no plans to change the monitor).
I occasionally render YouTube videos, but nothing too heavy.
I was planning to buy these parts:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BCxXh3
Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 (CMT32GX5M2B6000Z30K)
Asus TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
I’m aiming for under 1000€ (the more the better).
Would this combination work and meet my needs?
Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi
The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D doesn't come with a built-in cooler. You'll need to find one.

All I have is to make sure the voltage is overclocked properly. If you encounter any RAM compatibility problems, let us know. There are no needed bios updates for the motherboard. It seems everything is ready.

You're spending too much on your Mobo. Are you missing any IO feature with a cheaper RAM option?

Daily tasks and gaming is not a good combo for a X3d processor.
X3d is great for gaming only. Any other work is better done via the underlying processor.
Since you have a budget, save some by reusing your DDR4 ram.
Use a DDR4 capable B760 motherboard and a suitable 13th/14th gen intel processor like a I5-13600K or i5-14700K.
Air cooling is fine.
Here is a list from Noctua of suitable coolers for a 14700K:

I need at least 8x USB-a connections and don’t want to carry around dongles, but I think there are some boards in the 200€ range that have this. I should check around.
I chose the ASUS because of its good reviews and my current model is TUF as well; I haven’t had any issues with it.
My main use is gaming, and the benches I’ve seen say the 7800x3d is the best. For everyday tasks like web browsing, email, or word documents, I’m okay.
I really wanted to start fresh with this upgrade and plan to either sell or pass the old parts along to a friend who wants to upgrade too.

This USB add-in card is affordable:
https://www.amazon.com/Ports-Expres...0&psc=1&mcid=4bba36548271390cb6eeec114d8240e4
When upgrading to AMD, focus on choosing the right RAM.
Ryzen tends to be more demanding than Intel. I notice many people face similar problems.
