I haven't tried any of these, but do you know anyone who has experience with the new intel cards?

I was curious about how everything would appear with a higher resolution display. I noticed that a smaller screen typically offers higher pixel density... well, I'm currently using a 36-inch TV.

anyway, i think i'm planning to construct this rig... if you believe spending an extra $100 would make it worthwhile, then it's a good idea.

24 inches fits 1080p perfectly. 27 inches is ideal for 1440p. Going lower than 1080p reduces quality. I wouldn’t choose a Thermaltake Smart power supply—it’s a budget model. The RX6600 and 6650XT are solid options, with the RX6600 beating the GTX1080. You might fit a 6700XT or 6750XT for an extra $100. Better alternatives would be the Intel A770 or RTX4060/4060Ti, but they don’t offer good value. Going beyond that usually means bigger PSUs, which aren’t too expensive. Microcenter isn’t the best shop—prices are often higher than average and they push you toward deals to encourage quick buys.

The bundle on the CPU seems fine enough for me. As I mentioned, I own a Z690 board and it's a solid choice. If you're buying online, make sure to choose items marked as Shipped and Sold by Newegg. There are some third-party sellers there, but you might not always know who you're working with.

would adding another hundred dollars or more for an improved graphics card or display make it worthwhile?

Their bundles are well-known. They usually include CPUs that are a bit cheaper than the original price. I visited the new Indianapolis location during the holidays. I purchased an SSD and a mouse, having to match the mouse's price. Retail was 89.99, Microcenter 119.99. Now it's 99.99.
Here are the links:

Logitech lists it for 82.99

Mostly one or the other, but let me check if I can secure a 1440p panel and a 6700XT.

Regarding the Intel arc a770, it appears to be available on Newegg for around $280 for a 16GB card. Although I haven't used one myself, I've heard positive feedback about their graphics cards.
