I'm setting up a gaming PC and need fresh parts. I'm aiming for the best value within a $750 budget. The local microcenter has a bundle with a processor, motherboard, 16GB RAM all for $250. They offer an Intel Core i5-12600KF Alder Lake 3.7GHz Ten-Core LGA 1700 boxed processor, M.IIS Z790-P Pro Wi-Fi GDRAM4, and 16GB RAM (the exact model isn't clear). That’s a great deal at $250. Should I go with this setup? If yes, what GPU would be suitable? Also, my SSD is 1TB but not 4th generation—will it still work or will I need a replacement? Please share your ~$750 build ideas and let me know if you need help choosing the monitor as well. I’m okay spending less if it means a better experience. This old rig feels like a toaster, and my 60Hz 36-inch Samsung TV is used as a monitor. I already have Windows 10. Thanks in advance for any advice!

This bundle serves as a solid foundation. The remaining components are relatively straightforward to assemble.

That's what I was considering. It looks like a genuine product. Amazon is listing it for $200 by itself. For the monitor, I need something 1440p with at least 144hz, since I'm currently using a 20-year-old 60hz TV and just want to keep my PC running for a while. I'm not too worried about the monitor right now.

The recommended setup focuses on a 1080p 144Hz display with a compatible GPU. It might be worth reducing the GPU to the RX6600 to save around $40, as there is only one non-brand option at that resolution and price right now.

PCPartPicker Part List
CPU: Intel Core i5-12600KF 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor ($100.00)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120 Refined SE 66.17 CFM ($17.89 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI DDR4 ATX LGA1700 ($100.00)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 ($50.00)
Video Card: XFX Speedster SWFT 210 Core Radeon RX 6650 XT 8 GB ($229.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Antec AX20 ATX Mid Tower Case ($47.94 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: MSI MAG A650GL 650 W 80+ Gold Certified ($79.98 @ Amazon)
Case Fan: Thermalright TL-S12 47.6 CFM 120 mm ($6.79 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Asus TUF Gaming VG249Q1R 23.8" 1920 x 1080 165 Hz ($119.99 @ Amazon)

Total: $752.58 (includes shipping, taxes, and available discounts)

The suggested combination seems promising. We were discussing the bundle from microcenter previously. This appears to be the option they’re considering.
https://www.microcenter.com/product...s-...ild-bundle
I own the 12600kf, which is an excellent processor. I also have the z690 board and am very satisfied with it. It seems to include four M.2 slots, similar to mine, which will simplify storage upgrades.
I noticed they also have this PSU available in stock. What are your thoughts on it? The tier list looks dated, possibly from last year.

When browsing cases, I came across this one. It’s a microcenter model but has four fans, which could save some money if you prefer RGB lighting.

The 6650xt is a solid card choice.
Additionally, I recall they might match prices with Amazon and Newegg if you display the ad.
If you’re aiming for a 1440p display and are willing to invest a bit more, this option could be worth considering:

A 27-inch 1440p monitor at 170Hz should last several years. Just note you might need to adjust settings slightly for 1440p, though you can still set games to 1080p. On the other hand, it prepares you better for future graphics card upgrades.

this appears more affordable than the one eximo mentioned before, yet it maintains excellent ratings on amazon for its value.

It's essentially a quick 1080p card. The 6600 can help save a few dollars if needed.
This video is from a year ago but offers a good comparison to your 1050ti, even with a lower-end card like the rx 6600.

Yep... that's definitely my 1050ti... lol, nice YouTube video... it's tough to watch the 1050ti versus the 6600. The 1050ti really makes you feel sick just by looking at it, sigh.... I forgot how costly it is to set up a good 1440p rig. That's why I haven't upgraded yet, hoping prices will drop a bit.

You're wondering if the current investment is worthwhile or if saving would be better. It's a tough call—whether to spend now or wait for lower prices depends on your priorities and budget. Consider how much you value performance versus cost, and whether waiting could save you money in the long run.

I’ll spend an additional $100 if it truly matters, though I’m not sure. It seems I’d really prefer not to.
