Considering your Ryzen 7 3700X and an iXT factor board, you should look into the Asus B450-I setup.

Choose the high-end Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro Wifi or ROG Strix X570-I for premium performance, or opt for the more affordable Gigabyte B450 I Aorus Pro Wifi or ROG Strix B450-I Gaming if you're on a tighter budget.

None of these options include the correct BIOS information or a flashback feature. Unfortunately. The B450i gaming plus AC from MSI is relatively more affordable. How much would you consider spending on a motherboard? Do you have a nearby supplier that can update the BIOS?

A basic software patch will make it function with the 3700X. Changing the BIOS for a real processor on these boards presents a different challenge.

Consider options like BIOS flashback, purchasing a bootkit, or visiting a store. Note that some boards lack BIOS flashback support.

Like I said on my edited post above, it's another issue altogether. Maybe he can borrow from someone who has a compatible CPU or he might even have a spare that might actually work? Help from the local store he's buying it from (if he's indeed buying from the local store)? I dunno. I'm just providing answers based on the questions he's asking.

Sure, my friend might be able to help with his 1600, or I could try finding a store that can assist me.

I recommend opting for the gaming plus AC from MSI or the pricier Auros Pro Wi-Fi. These are the two choices to think about.
