The upgraded version comes with two fans; however, there are alternatives besides AIO. Noctua offers powerful air coolers that match or slightly outperform the Dark Rock Pro 4, though I don’t recognize their exact models. Still, they’re worth considering if you prefer a top-end solution. For those who truly need such a setup, the stock cooler was never meant for this configuration. This list can serve as a guide: AIO is definitely an option (just not my preference), it will improve performance over basic air coolers, but BTW, it doesn’t suit everyone—other choices matter too. I also think the built-in cooler is completely insufficient for that powerful CPU. I’m not familiar with AIO systems, so I can’t comment on them. Just thinking about water being close to the hardware and the risk of failure makes me hesitant about them compared to standard air coolers. That’s just my perspective.
I installed a Dark Rock TF CPU cooler today... I’ll need to monitor it closely to see how it performs. The case dimensions didn’t match what others shared, so I can’t use the Dark Rock Pro 4. I ran a stress test with Prime95 for about fifteen minutes; it reached around 80°C, mostly staying between 72-74°C. It’s currently idling with 40-50 Chrome tabs and WoW open at about 50°C—significantly cooler than before. I was thinking about getting an Artic Freezer II 360, but they’re hard to find except on eBay, which makes me hesitant since I don’t want to risk it. I’m concerned about the upcoming 3080 release and plan to switch to an AIO if my current setup becomes too hot, especially with more demanding games. If anyone has experience with other AIO systems, I’d really appreciate your advice. I tend to be very detail-oriented (OCD) and hate when temperatures near 70°C, even if it’s not a big deal. I haven’t overclocked anything yet, but I feel the need to do so eventually. This build seems excessive for my daily routine as a Software Engineer and gamer, though I needed an upgrade because my old i7-3820 @ 3.6 was struggling on a Sabertooth x79 and felt nearly ten years old.
