Build issue with Threadripper Pro 3995WX not posting. Error code 22 appears.
Building it now, it starts but doesn’t post. The debug screen displays error 22 when RAM is present in the PC. If no RAM is installed, it shows error 27. Placing RAM only in the top slot also triggers error 27, suggesting the top slot isn’t functioning. When RAM is in any of the other seven slots, the board reports error 22 regardless of location. We don’t have a clear meaning for these codes, but they relate to memory issues. So far we’ve checked: used one RAM stick, tested each slot individually, swapped CPU and removed it, cleared CMOS, tried without a GPU. No other CPU options are available. Any advice or conclusions from our attempts would be appreciated. Thanks ahead.
Use the Threadripper torque screwdriver to apply correct force on the CPU pads. It might just require adjusting the torque and ensuring a solid fit. Adhere to the recommended tightening steps. The correct RAM stick should go into slot C1, positioned about three slots away from the CPU in the upper RAM area.
Ok well I'm not sure if you used that tool or not, because this is a large socket that requires following installation procedure to the tee to ensure proper contact is made with all those pins and pads. By trying other RAM, are you using the same model of RAM? This RAM is not on the QVL list for the motherboard. If these don't work, then I'd suspect the CPU has a problem or the motherboard.
We acquired the correct hardware and attempted a reinstall. Still facing issues—error 22 appears in seven out of eight RAM slots, while error 27 is also present when no RAM is installed. We've tested both additional RAM modules from the same brand and other DDR4 models, but the problem persists across all cases.
No, I don't believe swapping the motherboard would fix the issue.
It's a partnership where we evaluate components like CPU, GPU, and RAM. If they function, we pay; if not, we return them. I’m not in charge of the agreement, so details are unclear, but there’s a chance they might bypass us. We have warranty on the motherboard since we bought it from a retailer, so we’re submitting an RMA request and hoping for a fix or replacement.
