I just built a PC that powers up with lights and fans, but no output appears. The GPU fans spin and lights stay on even when the GPU is active. The monitor fails to detect any signal. Pressing the power button turns it on, but holding it doesn’t shut it down. I’m stuck using the PSU switch to turn it off. There’s also a brief shutdown about 5 seconds after startup—fans stop, case fans flash red quickly, then return to normal after roughly two seconds. I have the HDMI cable connected to the GPU, not the motherboard, and I’ve reset the CMOS. What else should I check?
Consider testing various cables and display ports if possible. A backup GPU might help determine if the issue lies with the GPU.
