Hey my friend is planning to build a new computer, and this setup has been made for me on https://www.inet.se/datorbygge/b1654480/hampus. Should I look into changing things? The budget is about 15k Swedish Kr. I was thinking about using AM5 to be ready later, because games use a lot of RAM and take up 8gb fast. Maybe I should aim for 32gb ram since it's the "new" standard.
Yeah, the PSU is okay but not great for a PC without a dedicated graphics card. If you add a dedicated GPU though, this old PSU might struggle. That board only has 4 main phases for power and might make your CPU slower on big tasks or even while gaming. My old motherboard was an MSI Z170A Gaming M5 from 2016 with 12 main phase VRM. Right now I'm upgrading my 9-year-old computer to get a new R7 9800X3D processor. That new part will go with a motherboard that has 20 main phase VRMs, and that's going to make things much more stable and powerful.

Before Asus had the best value, now MSI has taken over as the cheapest option. The MSI board also comes with 4 main phases on its VRM. Which one is better? Is an AsRock B650M Pro RS with 8 main phase VRMs worth it? actually, they have exactly the same setup for VRM power phases. Both use four-phase motherboards with doublers to make them look like "fake" eight-phase designs dedicated to VCORE (which is better than just plain 4 phases). Both follow a 2x4+2+1 design plan. If you want to call one of them an 8-phase setup, the other one also has to be called that way too.
However, the main difference between them and why one fails thermal tests while the other doesn't is the quality of their MOSFETs: asrock uses better quality and higher-efficiency Vishay SiC654 (50A) MOSFETs, but asus is using cheap Onsemi 4C10B (46A). Even though they look almost identical on paper, their efficiency under heavy load differs greatly.
With less demanding processors like the 7950x, both work fine. But when we want to push more than 20A of current through each MOSFET and set our CPU voltage to around 1.3V, the MOSFETs need to handle 208 watts of power (or 160A combined for the 8 MOSFETS).
The problem with cheap Onsemi MOSFETs is that their peak efficiency only works well at 11-12A of current; anything more causes a big drop, meaning more leftover heat. At 20A, these Onsemi MOSFETs create about 50 watts of residual combined heat. In contrast, the Vishay SiC654 keeps its efficiency high at 91-92% even at 20A per MOSFET and only creates roughly half as much residual heat under those conditions.
That's why, despite having the same power phase design technically, a cheap Asus board fails studio tests when paired with an overclocked 7950X for example. That CPU can be really power-hungry during stress tests, especially when PBO is on and it needs almost 250 watts of power. Because of this combined with weak heatsinks, the Asus overheats to over 100C° and fails, while the Asrock board stays cool enough not to fail.
It's not because one board is 4-phase and the other is 8-phase; they are both actually 2x4 boards.
