Build AdviceNew Build Advice
It has been more than ten years since I created this setup, and I’m seeking guidance to refresh my knowledge on building one correctly. This system is intended mainly for gaming, and I plan to assemble it over the coming months. I’m looking to purchase a monitor, accessories, and an operating system. My overall budget should stay below $1800, ideally. Although it’s challenging to forecast current costs, I just want to confirm if I’m heading in the right direction. I’m flexible with brands and manufacturers.

uncertain about choosing 5800x3d personally, can't confirm if 12600 is significantly better. Both dead or nearly dead platforms...
if ARC770 the 16gb works or a 6700xt with 12gb would be good too?
8gb provides ample capacity for 1080p gaming. The 5800X3D will remain functional for at least five years before a platform upgrade becomes necessary. This model outperforms the 12600k. If the Z690 board includes USB bios flashback support, purchasing the 13600k with DDR4 will still offer comparable performance to the 5800X3D. The only practical choice remains AM5 with DDR5, though it exceeds the budget.
Here are some thoughts I’ve gathered:
I remember Hyper212 was decent during its time, affordable and functional.
Getting one mounted level was difficult; better alternatives exist.
For instance, the Noctua NH-U12s work well.
Paste usually means less than expected—no need to overpay for extra.
A cooler’s paste should suffice.
The motherboard is fine but lacks Wi-Fi.
I’d consider a B660 or B860 MATX board with Wi-Fi included.
For example:

Game sizes are increasing, so start with a 2TB M.2 SSD.
Don’t rush into fast sequential benchmarks; the difference won’t be noticeable.
These options can’t:

A top-quality choice is the Intel 670P:

A 12600K supports much faster graphics cards.
To accommodate upgrades, opt for a 850W PSU.
Only purchase quality units with a 7 to 10-year warranty.
Seasonic and Prime focus are solid starting points.
It seems I’ve heard about problems with Gigabyte power supplies—true.
Yes, a better PSU will cost more upfront.
Maybe it's better to stick with the AM5 platform.
Ryzen 5 7600 performs similarly to 5800X3D when it comes to gaming, though there are more options for productivity tasks with the 5800X3D, while the 5800X3D supports upgrades for productivity but not gaming.
