Find a board with a mesh front similar to the Fractal Focus G to allow airflow without needing additional fans right away. Consider purchasing a 550W PSU that offers good value for its price. The VRM performance on this board isn’t impressive, so compare it to options like the ASRock Steel Legend or the MSI B450 Gaming motherboard. Having 16GB of RAM is sufficient even for 4K video editing. Upgrade to a 500GB NVME drive such as the Patriot Scorch or a 660p model to save money on RAM. Try getting an 8GB version of the RX 470, 480, 570, or 580 series.
I picked the R5 2600 since the 3600 costs around 100 euros more. I switched to a 500-watt PSU from the System Power 9, and according to my calculations, the system won’t use much more than 400 watts, leaving about 100 watts extra. My reasoning is that the Ryzen 5 2600 performs better for recording, gaming, rendering, and editing compared to the Ryzen 3 1200 or similar options. I went with 32GB of G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200 RAM CL16 for enhanced editing and gaming performance.
I adjusted a few things, but I really want to maintain the 32 gigabytes of RAM. This build isn’t significantly pricier than the 16 gigabyte version, and memory usage is high in Rust. A 16 gigabyte kit costs around 80 euros, with a slight variation, but adding another 50 euros gives me double the storage. Right now I don’t plan to keep this setup for too long—it’s mainly a short-term fix. I’m currently using most of my tasks on a Lenovo S340 laptop, and I can tell you it doesn’t handle everything I need.
You might also search for X470 MSI Boards. The vRM is slightly broader and possibly improved, with marginally better I/O and enhanced audio options.
