I recently assembled my new machine and temperatures are now better since I stopped using old thermal paste. I've been learning about undervolting a lot. My temps are fine, around 70s under load with a 11700K CPU. The Asus ROG Strix Z590-E works well. Can I use Intel XTU to lower temperatures? Does it make sense long-term? Mostly gaming is my focus—will it affect stability in Cinebench compared to heavy gaming? If I reduce voltage, will performance drop too? That’s a bit confusing. Thanks!

Reducing the voltage separately won’t slow things down, but it can lead to issues similar to overclocking or underclocking. Your temperatures while playing are what you’re seeing. Running artificial tests such as Cinebench++ will raise them much more than any game would. Many folks avoid changing CPU settings in software and favor using BIOS controls instead. I lowered the voltage on a 9900k from 1.37v to 1.23 until it became stable, and it maintained steady performance—temperatures fell from about 80°C to around 62°C during games.
