Budget Micro ATX workstation build advice required, parts suggestions needed
Hi everybody,
I’m trying to build a modestly priced micro ATX pc for my wife to be her home work station. I have some spare components I’m planning to use but need some advice on what to buy to stay under budget and still give her a smooth machine.
Have:
Micro ATX case w sufficient fans
Evga Supernova 650 P2 (yes, this case can fit it)
Radeon RX 5600 XT (probably unnecessary for this build but I have it)
16gb ddr4 ram 3600
240gb SSD
PCie Wi-Fi card (would prefer integrated Wi-Fi)
Needed to complete tower ($300 dollar budget, $400 absolute max)
CPU w/ heatsink (thinking about a Ryder 5 5600 but need advice on this)
Mixro ATX motherboard (preferably Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in)
Graphics card (possibly; since the RX 5600 would probably be a waste)
Monitor
I’m not at all opposed to buying used components, especially a mobo/cpu combo. Again it’s a workstation not a gaming rig; though I do want to give it enough juice to be at least moderately fast for the next 2-3 years. I’ll be running Linux on it so that will make things easier too.
Please let me know what you think I should look into for the needed components, new or used, given the budget I set.
Thanks!
I would recommend purchasing a 5700G and stopping there unless gaming is involved.

I found this offer for an I3-13100 and a B760M DS3H AX DDR4 motherboard on Amazon for $275:

I’ve used a 13100 before, and it performs well. It might be slightly faster than the R5-5600.
It comes with a great laminar flow cooler that operates quietly.
The board covers all your necessary connections.
Since it’s from Intel, I’m confident there will be no compatibility problems with your DDR4 RAM.
It also includes built-in graphics, so you can use your 5600XT (around $70 on eBay).
