Your system with an i3 4160 and 6 GB RAM should handle Fortnite at 1080x1080 in medium settings, even after adding the 1050Ti.

You're unsure if 1080 by 1080 refers to 1080p resolution. It should work on your 1050ti medium.

The GTX 1050Ti works well for 1080p and Fortnite doesn't require much power. You can find YouTube videos from users with similar configurations playing the game. Consider adding a little more RAM, though. Affordable used DDR3 RAM is readily available.

Also, I heard the CPU can handle up to 2GB of video memory, yet the 1050Ti supports 4GB. Does that impact your PC?

The 4Gb GPU memory refers to the dedicated storage the graphics card uses for itself, including some fast RAM for video tasks. The 2Gb CPU max memory indicates the limit for integrated graphics, defining how much of your regular RAM the CPU can utilize for video processing.

Whether pairing a Core i3 4160 with a GTX 1060 3GB or 1050 Ti 4GB causes bottlenecks depends on your specific setup. And for Fortnite versus PUBG, the 1060 3GB is generally better suited for both games.

I really would choose a 1050 for Fortnite. For PUGB, you might still need a better CPU, but a 1060 would be better.
