Looking for a B450 motherboard that supports Steam Link and Wake on LAN. The MSI B450M GAMING PLUS MAX is a strong recommendation but lacks Wake on LAN. The Asrock B450m PRO 4 is another option, though some sources mention problems with it. You're in the UK and want something under £100, preferably around £80.

I was wrong before. This has happened before. I assumed the B stuff was meant for office gear. X was intended for enthusiasts. The fact that B performed great in gaming was an unexpected mistake.

B was intended for business use with Intel, but there was a shortage of H chipsets during the Ivy Bridge era. Consumers adopted the B chipset, and Intel allowed manufacturers to continue using it because it didn’t impact H chipset demand when supplies returned to normal.

Does Wake-On-LAN function consistently for your setup? I own an MSI B450M Mortar Max (7B89-016R) and it doesn’t perform reliably. After updating the latest Realtek LAN driver and adjusting the settings in Windows Device Manager, the board can be properly activated from standby and after shutdown in Windows. NOTE: - When you enter BIOS and power off using the power button, Wake On LAN fails - When the power is completely cut (test: disconnect PSU for 30 seconds then reconnect) and it restarts, Wake On LAN also fails So essentially it depends on Windows plus the Realtek driver handling the WoL setup. However, whenever BIOS takes over, it doesn’t work with this model. The manufacturer actually suggested using this board for Wake-On-LAN, which seems questionable.
