The PC part picker indicates a BIOS update is required. Can I perform that update using the same processor I plan to use?

Most B450 models receive updates, but if you're concerned, contact the store via email or order notes. Nearly all BIOS versions are provided at no cost.

Additionally, if the manufacturer doesn't refresh the BIOS, AMD provides a limited-time boot kit via their RMA service. This allows you to borrow an Athlon 200ge to update the BIOS, provided you return it with prepaid shipping—though there may be a small deposit required.

It's free, but it requires about a week in total. However, the likelihood is quite low. Most boards have been refreshed since Zen 2 was released a full year ago.

You might try another option, but that board isn't great, so I'd skip it. Keep an eye on the B550 release on the 16th.

Absolutely, it's wise to keep a backup ready in case your current options become outdated.
