Consider a Ryzen 5 3600 with B450 for your setup. Check out budget CPUs and motherboards that fit 8GB RAM, 2666MHz RAM, GTX 1050 Ti, and a 450W PSU. Your idea of the Ryzen 5 3600 is solid, but keep in mind the GPU might limit performance—upgrading later could help.

It won't work but if you're on a tight budget a 3300x will match gaming performance. For the board, a tomahawk max, mortar max, or B450 Pro 4 should suffice. Edited June 29, 2020 by TofuHaroto Typo

A system will always have one point of constraint. It's impossible to completely eliminate it. A 3600 should suffice. The 3300X offers another solid budget choice, though I wouldn't expect a 4-core CPU in 2020.

I’d only pay an extra $40 for a 3600. I couldn’t locate the 3300X in stock anywhere.
