Hi
I experience freezes and sometimes BSOD when I overclock my 6600k. It only occurs during games.
Details:
Processor: i5 6600K + NH-D15 Noctua
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI with latest BIOS
Graphics: EVGA G2 750W
Memory: DDR4 Corsair Vengeance 16GB
GPU: GTX 1070 MSI Gaming X
Current settings: Stock mode, temperatures stay below 60°C.
In-game crashes happen when temperatures drop under 50°C.

Tried various configurations:
- 4.2 GHz @ Auto Vcore = Crash
- 4.2 GHz @ 1.35 Vcore = Crash
- 4.2 @ 1.4 Vcore = Crash
- 4.0 @ 1.4 Vcore = Crash
- 4.0 @ 1.4 Vcore + Loadline Calibration High + Turbo Boost OFF = Crash
- 4.2 @ 1.35Vcore + Loadline Calibration High + Underclock RAM to 1800 from 2133 = Crash

Am I doing something wrong? I’ve read reviews on Newegg and some users report the same issue with their motherboard. Guess there’s a setting I’ve overlooked...
Should I adjust C-states? I prefer power-saving idle features so the system stays cool.

I'm experiencing the same problem, isn't it? Is this a gigabyte motherboard?

I also have that problem, is it a gigabyte motherboard? What specifications do you have?

man, i think I’ve found a fix (maybe). I followed this guide:
http://esupport.gigabyte.com/Login/Index...#id:275460
turn off all C states, CPU EIST, and CPU enhanced halt.
i couldn’t even overclock and could only play for 5-10 minutes. I’ve been playing for hours now at 4,2ghz @1,35V.

Disable all power-saving features, set load line calibration to level 1, configure manual voltage to 1.35. Default your memory if available and you have an XMP profile; consider disabling it.

Also worth mentioning is that a few years back I purchased a Gigabyte P45 motherboard, which arrived in poor condition. That led me to stop buying Gigabyte motherboards.

BSOD 101 usually suggests increasing the vcore, but here are the recommended adjustments.
Make sure to adjust your RAM frequency, timings, and voltage to the stock values.
These are the current settings on my system:
CPU All Core: 4.7ghz
Cache Ratio: 3.5ghz
CPU Amplitude: 1000
CPU PLL ORT: Disabled
FCLK Frequency: 1GHZ
CPU Voltage mode: Fixed
CPU Voltage: 1.330v
LLC: Level 1 (best match for my board, note variations across manufacturers)
DRAM: 1.2v
VCCIO 0.950v
VCC PLL: 1.200v
VCCSA: 1.050v
CPU Internal PLL: 0.900v

That's really bad, isn't it? Maybe try a different approach that I can assist with.
I don't want to tell you what to change or adjust, but I suggest you avoid touching anything unless you're sure of what you're doing and understand what it does.
I'll wait for your response. I'm curious if I can adjust your computer settings without needing to read into it.
