Hello everyone, here’s my updated update with fresh insights. I previously shared this thread: please confirm it’s okay. I’m facing game crashes and BSODs while playing. Not all games crash, but some do. I’ve had issues with: "Rise of the Tomb Raider" and "Ori and the Will of the WIsps." The crashes often appear when the graphics card is pushed to its limit. This likely points to a RAM problem, though they usually occur when the graphics card is overloaded. I suspect the power supply unit might be the culprit. My setup includes: an Intel i7 7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming pro Carbon, MSI RTX 2070 Super Ventus OC. Be quiet! I’m using a Power 11 650W PSU (after changing it recently, but still got a crash and BSOD post-installation). Hardware: two Corsair 8GB LPDDR4X 2400MHz dual-channel, one Corsair 16GB LPDDR4X 2400MHz CL16, a Samsung 970 Mbit SSD (system drive), two Samsung 860GB (games and old system), and a 4TB WD Blue. The 2070 is connected to the 12V lane 3, which can supply about 260W alone. The OS is roughly four days old on a new SSD, so drivers are likely fresh. Minidumps are attached. Customer crashes occurred once. Default bucket ID is set to a corrupted value. Debugging info indicates issues with memory handling. Possible causes include faulty RAM or incorrect timing/voltage settings. The process ran as dwm.exe with no I/O errors.

It seems both the CPU and RAM are operating with their standard configurations. The only adjustments were made to the 2070, which I installed in that manner. On that day, I noticed the GPU was heavily utilized by dwm.exe. After ruling out the PSU, it’s hard to say if the issue lies with the RAM slots, their configuration, or something else. My earlier guesses about the number of slots or their sizes didn’t get confirmed, and I couldn’t find anyone with a clear opinion.

The situation doesn't really matter much. Try eliminating one of the odd components and observe the system's response. Also, check information about BSOD DWM.exe; it could be related to the graphics card, though we should keep that in mind.

I deleted the 16GB and now it's running with 2x8Gb using dual channel only. I experienced some random BSODs a year ago with a previous 2070 by Gigabyte. I sent it back because neither I nor NVIDIA support could make it work. My GTX960 also had problems, though I don't have the updates anymore. Most issues seemed linked to drivers—like IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and a few others. I always suspected it was my old system or a faulty graphics card.

Recent minor fix: No issues during the last few hours of use. However, the difficulties have been inconsistent since then, making it unclear what to say. I’ll try more tests... For RAM: having two 16GB units seems better than four 8GB ones (prices similar). If the problem is linked to the third bar, I’d need to buy fresh RAM to reach 32GB. Combining two 16GB and two 8GB won’t solve it either, would you?

Insert the single stick and verify it works with your regular PC use or memtest86. Once we assess its condition, we can continue.
