I appreciate all the feedback from the commenters! I managed to perform a clean installation of Windows using a stable WiFi connection and booting from the new USB drive without any problems. My PC is now fully operational.
I recently built a PC for the first time, and everything was functioning perfectly. I downloaded Windows 11 via USB and reached the "add drivers" stage.
My setup uses a GIGABYTE B550M K motherboard. While trying to install drivers from their website, I couldn't locate them in the folder I added to on my USB during installation. The manual suggested unpacking the files and rebooting after adding the folders. I followed those steps, rebooted, and eventually reset my PC when prompted. It helped, but unfortunately, it didn’t resolve the issue.
I still keep encountering the blue screen and "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" error. I was convinced I was doing everything correctly, but it kept happening. I’m very new to PCs and not sure what to do or understand all the technical terms in help articles. I only have one M.2 SSD, and I was restricted to installing Windows only on that drive.
Should I reinstall Windows from the USB again, delete the old installation files, and try to fix the drive issue? I’ve moved files around and adjusted BIOS settings based on videos, but they all seemed to assume Windows was already fully installed. It’s confusing, and I’m worried about losing data or corrupting the process.
I really hope I can avoid replacing anything or causing a total failure. Please let me know how to proceed!
When you set up your installation USB using the Windows 11 iso, did you choose GPT - UEFI (non CSM)? The sole motherboard driver that might be required on another thumb drive during the Windows setup would be the LAN or wifi driver. It's best to keep a few flash drives ready during the installation, one for Windows and another for drivers.
Reset BIOS settings back to the default. Avoid altering BIOS unless you're certain about your actions.
Proceed with a clean installation of Windows.
Ensure only one drive is connected during the process. Disconnect all other drives physically.
Adhere to the provided instructions.
Which drivers were you attempting to install? W11 should already have drivers for all main and essential components pre-installed, so you shouldn't be required to do this during the Windows setup. It would be ideal to remove all partitions on that drive at the start of the installation and allow the installer to create its own partitions. Ensure TPM is enabled (CSM disabled) in BIOS while only one partition is active. After installation, you can update or install any missing drivers as needed.
I noticed I was moving too fast and tried unnecessary drivers, but then followed your instructions in the BIOS and everything functioned smoothly! Thanks a lot for your assistance!
