BSOD in virtualized Windows 10 environment caused by KMOD_EXCEPTION
I've been attempting to get VMware Workstation 12 to host my Windows 10 VM, but I consistently encounter this BSOD. The same issue pops up whenever I switch to Windows 10 as the host OS. I'm struggling to figure it out and want a smooth experience with Windows 10 on my PC. I want to know which operating system your computer is using and what you're attempting to install into VMware. The title seems to mix up the roles, so please clarify.
The crashing component is either the host or the guest depending on which one is experiencing issues.
Have you set up VMWare Tools? A search on the web indicates this issue is often linked to hardware problems (unlikely in a virtual machine) or a faulty kernel driver, possibly caused by VMWare Tools. You might want to disable VMWare Tools and check if the crashes stop; otherwise, it could point to a VM configuration error. In VMWare, go to Help > Check For Updates to refresh the tools images. Try that, then reinstall the tools if the update works.
Sure, I’ll give it a try. I’ll refresh this thread after updating VMware. I also recalled a post mentioning adjustments to the .vmx file that resolved the issue, though I can’t locate it anymore.
Updated VMware Workstation and tools successfully. Everything functions now. Thanks!
