BSOD in Overwatch 2? Need assistance.
BSOD in Overwatch 2? Need assistance.
I experience frequent BSODs while launching OW2. This has never happened before, and I've tried all standard solutions like updating GPU and chipset drivers. I'm installing Windows 11 from scratch, as I also faced this issue with OW2 on Windows 10. I've swapped RAM modules and updated BIOS, but nothing worked. My system runs a Ryzen 7 1700x with an RTX 2070 graphics card. I don't have NVIDIA Broadcast installed. My CPU stays cool during gameplay, and temperatures never spiked before the crash. I've attached the WhoCrashed report. If anyone has suggestions, please share—I'm really eager to play this game and this is frustrating! Crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\101122-10359-01.dmp (Minidump) Bugcheck code: 0x133(0x0, 0x501, 0x500, 0xFFFFF8021391C340) Bugcheck name: [DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION] Driver or module that triggered the error: ([0xfffff802 12e76fa0](https://www.google.com/search?q=0xfffff802 12e76fa0)) Bug check summary: The DPC watchdog noticed a long runtime at an IRQL of DISPATCH_LEVEL or higher. This might stem from unresponsive drivers or hardware issues. It could also relate to overheating CPUs (thermal problems). Analysis: Likely a hardware fault, though a faulty driver is a chance. This check suggests a timeout event. It may point to a thermal issue or driver bug. Reading about thermal concerns could help. A complete memory dump might reveal more details about this bug.
Check your hardware by running Cinebench and Furmark. Start with one, then the other. After about half an hour of stress testing without crashes, try running both together for roughly ten minutes. This will warm them up, but thermal throttling shouldn't occur if your case has good airflow. If both tests didn’t trigger a crash, the issue likely lies with Overwatch 2 and not your system. Blizzard probably rushed OW2, so a tired developer might have made a mistake.
Congrats! Your hardware is probably fine. Overwatch 2 is to blame then. I know you really want to play it, but it appears as though the game is in an unfinished state if it is causing problems like this. ActiBlizz just being themselves again I guess. Sorry but you'll have to wait until they patch it. If it's graphics related NVIDIA may address the issue from their end in a future driver update. Keep an eye on the OW2 website for updates about a fix.
