BSOD 0x119, dxgmms2.sys
BSOD 0x119, dxgmms2.sys
Hello everyone,
After exhausting every possible solution I could try, I had to give up. I consistently face issues with my 3 MO PC shutting down immediately after waking up from sleep. Initially, it shows lag (noticeable mouse delays), and then the PC restarts on its own after a short while. I've adjusted several settings: turned off MCR for RAM, changed its MHz from 6400 to 6200 and later to 6000, updated the motherboard BIOS, reinstalled graphics drivers using DDU, and installed drivers from my GPU manufacturer. Fast startup remains disabled, processor power management set to 5%, and the only change I made at the start was enabling Eco mode 105W in BIOS for my Ryzen 7950X. The problem appears only after waking up, occurring randomly—sometimes once every few days, other times every couple of days. Additionally, I disabled automatic startup for MSI Afterburner. Game and development work aren't affected; it only restarts after waking, and everything functions normally afterward. Component temperatures are also within normal ranges whether idle or under load.
My system details:
- Windows 11 Home 64-bit
- AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core Processor
- ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI (AM5)
- Gainward NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Phantom
- Samsung SSD 980 PRO with Heatsink 2TB (SSD)
- Endorfy Navis F360 3x120mm
- Corsair 64GB (2x32GB) 6400MHz CL32 Vengeance
- Straight Power 12 1000W 80 Plus Platinum ATX 3.0
- Nvidia drivers: 546.33
I’m counting on you all to help figure this out.

Additional notes:
Component temperatures remain stable during both idle and active usage.
It seems to be just a problem with the operating system. Check if running the SFC and DISM commands helps fix it.
Did you execute the correct DISM command? There are different options available, such as /ScanHealth and /RestoreHealth.
The issue appears to stem from either a defective graphics card or an incompatible graphics driver. The dump indicates the BSOD occurred due to an invalid parameter, likely originating from either the driver or the card. This information is confirmed by the 0xC000000D entry in the dump. The graphics driver version installed is recent, released in December 2023...
I've tested both options and nothing unusual happened.
@ubuysa shared that I used the latest GPU drivers (from Nvidia) without GeForce experience, but the problem persisted. I attempted to download drivers from my manufacturer card using DDU, but the issue continued.
Another point is that I can't enter BIOS when booting up; I have to use the Windows 11 recovery tab instead.
I have carried out what you instructed me to do as well. It's also important to note that my PC takes about a minute to boot, beginning with a DRAM diode flash in orange for roughly fifty seconds, after which the light disappears. The entire process takes one minute.
As mentioned, if BSODs appear after installing the latest three graphics driver versions with DDU in between, a graphics card problem is likely. Swapping the cards is the only definitive solution. A slow boot might stem from various causes, but with 64GB of RAM it will take more time to load. If Windows Fast Startup is active, turn it off as it's unnecessary. It's also typical to access BIOS only through Windows.
