I swapped in the 3070 and the backplate near the ports on it touched my motherboard. After a restart, everything functions properly. Was it lucky or should I be concerned about potential issues later?

Ensure everything functions correctly. A common approach is to disconnect the PC and press the power button briefly to discharge capacitors before handling it.

It's unclear whether the 3070 was faulty or if your motherboard is damaged. You were seeing visual glitches, possibly from the GPU, and you received code 43 in Device Manager now that it seems to be functioning. Hopefully this indicates a positive outcome.

I've faced problems with my second-hand 3070. Initially, it was locked to a low resolution and displayed code 43. Updating drivers didn't help, and Windows would crash. I flashed the BIOS but it still crashed upon booting. Sometimes moving the GPU improved performance or made it worse. I added GPU support and placed it under the slot, which resolved the issue. Now it works perfectly. I'm hesitant to handle it anymore after spending hours trying fixes, though I suspect my 3060 might have fixed the drivers on my PC.
