At work, I used an ads 1200 scanner that could read long paper at 600 x 600 DPI with Brother Control Center. Now I own a similar model at home, but the software available is different—iprintscan—which doesn’t support scanning long paper at that resolution. I’m wondering if Brother reduced quality to save costs or if there’s another program I can try instead.

The amount of RAM available at the office and your current quantity are being checked. The scanning process is proceeding without compression, meaning a high-resolution 600DPI file will require significant memory. The greater the amount being scanned, the more RAM it demands. Also, DPI refers to dots per inch, so you might be asking about the size of the paper rather than the resolution?
