I discovered several options priced around those values, all with damaged pins. I’ve heard that sending them to a jewelry store might repair them for a lower cost, possibly restoring them to new condition. Would the CPU function properly afterward?

You need someone else to handle it. If you're unsure about the repair, that's okay. If you don't have the skills or tools, it's not possible. But if you own everything and are ready to take a chance, go for it.

It’s reasonable to purchase it if you need the CPU installed on your motherboard. But if your only goal is to fit a CPU into the board, it’s probably unnecessary.

I agree with @Levent's advice: if you're unsure how to fix something, don't waste time. Spending 100 USD on a CPU isn't just learning—it's investing in something you might not understand.
