Uncertain about sharing open source software updates—please let moderators handle it if needed. Linux gamers are familiar with Proton; Boxtron operates similarly but is tailored for DOS games on Steam, offering several advantages over alternatives like running DOSBox inside Proton or using Wine. It provides reduced input lag, reliable Steam features (Cloud, controllers, playtime recording), enhanced fullscreen support, native Steam Overlay, more settings, better defaults, automatic MIDI detection with fallback, and software synthesizer as a backup. Compared to vanilla DOSBox, it’s improved. There are also updates for DOSBox itself—doxbox-staging is available for further exploration. Are there any DOS game fans among Linux users here? Share your thoughts.

This may not function properly on Windows. Earlier attempts showed issues with running MS-DOS programs on Windows 10.

Sorry, only the Linux version of Steam offers compatibility support. If you'd like to try testing dosbox-staging on Windows 10, I can create a Windows build—it’s been tested mainly on Linux but has notable enhancements for Windows users as well. Let me know if you're interested.
