Hey there! I’m excited to join this forum and have a question that’s been on my mind since I started building my first PC around November. It was a bit of a surprise gift for myself, and I went through everything carefully. The seller was friendly and shared some useful tips, but I still thought my build would be a bit challenging.

In the first month it went smoothly, but then things started to lag. I was using Chrome with a single app, and even simple games like "Ran Online" would crash at high settings. My CPU was always busy, sometimes hitting 100% usage—even when just one program was running. I’m new to this, so I’m trying to understand what’s causing the slowdown and how to fix it.

I spent over $650 CAD on my setup, and I really want to improve this. If there’s any way to identify which part of my CPU is the bottleneck, that would be super helpful. I’m not looking to upgrade right now due to budget constraints, but I’d really appreciate any advice. Thanks for reading my post!

Uncertain about the specific CPU component you're referring to. If you're experiencing full utilization, consider upgrading to a more powerful processor like a 3200G or the new R5 1600AF. Having around 16GB of RAM is also a solid choice these days.

potential issues include:
1. Memory operates in a single channel
2. The motherboard may restrict overclocking, affecting performance
3. SSD might be fully used up and experiencing degradation
4. A faulty power supply unit could be causing problems
5. High thermal output may force CPU and GPU to throttle

I have about 3-4 fans running in a Mid case so i might be good but no too sure will monitor Thanks for this tips , i will do all steps to watch out for most of this things and Add ram to my pc.

It could be related to my RAM settings. The changes in CPU usage are extremely erratic, even when using Google Chrome. The only app running smoothly would still show a 20-100% unstable fluctuation. Your feedback is appreciated as it helps identify some of the issues mentioned.

Take a 3-second pause and you won’t slow down

I didn't think about that before. I've noticed monitor prices have jumped significantly, around 50 to 100 hundred.

It's great that my PC was built before the situation, but I'm planning to upgrade my RAM since I only have one stick. Running it on a single channel could slow things down.
