I've been searching for a suitable CPU for a 4070, but most options only limit performance around 11%. Since I'm not tech-savvy, I'm asking for advice. I'm currently using a B550 Prime board, an RTX 2070, and a Ryzen 5 3600. I want the best possible build within a $2k budget. I was thinking about upgrading to something better, but I'm unsure if my motherboard can handle it. My display is a 2560x1080, and I plan to run multiple monitors for games like Sea of Thieves, Apex Legends, and survival titles.

What screen size and titles are you using? If you're on 1080p, go with an AM5 7500f or 7600/x. For 1440p, a 5700x or 5600 should work fine.

These bottleneck calculators are just misleading tools designed to charge you extra. You're not starting from scratch—just buying into a pre-made solution. Are you building a custom setup? I suggest posting about build planning for a full PC that fits your budget.

And this (also include budget details and country info to help with sourcing components)

Choose a 7800X3D for better performance. The 7950X3D blends poorly for both gaming and work tasks. For productivity, prioritize extra cores without the extra cache, as it can cause heat issues and slow things down. For gaming, pick an X3D with multiple CPUs to avoid latency problems.

I’m not sure about the term you’re referring to. It sounds like you're asking about identifying constraints or limitations in a system, but the explanation seems unclear. Could you clarify what you mean by a bottleneck and provide more context?

I'm using a B550-Prime board, an RTX 2070, and a Ryzen 5 3600. I'm trying to maximize performance within a budget of around $2k. I was considering the 4070 but am unsure which CPU fits or if my motherboard supports upgrades. My display is a 2560x1080 and I want to run multiple monitors for games like Sea of Thieves, Apex Legends, and survival titles.

You might be able to use AM5, but upgrading to AM4 is recommended if you have the right RAM. For your current setup, consider a B550 with 5700X3D if you want better performance. How much RAM do you currently have? What is your budget looking like?
