I owned an old monitor with a 4:3 screen size. Now I’m using a standard 1080p display, but I can’t adjust the aspect ratio to widescreen. The menu options let me browse resolutions, but they’re all in 4:3 format. This is pretty unusual—many games I played on 4:3 had this issue, and there’s no simple fix. For Borderlands, I’m having trouble finding solutions online or even editing the settings files to change it. I even tried removing them to get back to defaults, but it didn’t work.

Troubleshooting the Nvidia control panel issues. Attempted full-screen mode and adjusted settings, but changes didn't resolve the problem. Please let me know if you need further help.

It seems your PC assumes you're using a 4:3 display, possibly due to a Borderlands configuration or an Nvidia setting. Check your local game files in My Games or Steam—there should be a config file that can be removed to generate a new one with the right settings.

I checked my documents and game files, cleared all settings, but the game still opens in 4:3 even after I reopened it. I restarted, adjusted the resolution to 1080, and then changed it back to 4:3. Finally, scrolling allowed me to select 1080p. Not sure why it didn’t work initially, but thanks a lot!
