Booting and SSD card
Booting and SSD card
I purchased an HP 10 gen PC and the SSD drive somehow stopped working. The HP technician visited, replaced the motherboard and CPU, and told me the 2TB SSD card was defective. After removing it, the computer turned on but showed no SSD, only the HP logo appeared. I tried another SSD card, which worked and displayed HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI Version 2.3.2.0 - BIOS. All tests passed, but I still can’t access anything beyond that point. The system ran Windows 11, but no drive letters appear and it crashes at the end. I’m not very tech-savvy. How can I get back to the computer so I can see what’s inside? If the old SSD is dirty or damaged, can it be cleaned? You can email me directly. Also, I’ll check here periodically. Thank you, Paul.
Hello there, new member! When the technician arrived, was the operating system installed on the new SSD? If not, that's what needs fixing on your PC.
I removed the email address posted. Please refrain from sharing personal details.
Regarding the question that appears quite unusual, starting with "The SSD card was removed and there was no drive left in there." It implies that no testing or checks were performed to confirm the laptop was functioning again.
Additionally: "And also how can I retrieve my personal information from the old SSD card? In case it is contaminated with fingerprints or tissue paper, can it be cleaned?" This shouldn't affect anything unless fingerprints serve as evidence. Tissue paper seems irrelevant in any context I can imagine.
You should reach out to the HP Technician for returning the removed SSD card and possibly reinstalling the operating system.
Personal data should be recovered using your backups.

You received a small 256 GB SSD card from HP, which allowed you to view its contents during testing. Without it, nothing appeared except the HP logo. I'm sorry for the confusion and the repeated issue—this won't happen again. Thank you.
I received a small 256 GB ssd card from HP, which allowed me to verify its contents during testing. Without it, nothing occurred—only the HP logo appeared. I apologize for sending an email; I’m uncertain about how this process works but it shouldn’t happen again. When the technician arrived, did he install the operating system onto the new SSD? If not, that’s what’s missing on your PC. We didn’t have the SSD card initially; it was shipped by HP a few days later. The technician installed only the PC board and CPU that day. I installed the card myself. Without it, nothing functioned. After inserting the card, the system began to check, and I could control the test list from the keyboard. There was a green light on the board. When the old SSD was present, the red light appeared. Thank you.
