Boot process on HDD using NVMe SSD
I switched from a 970evo with 256GB to a Kingston NV1 1TB NVMe drive for more space. I used a recommended tool (AOMEI Personal) and cloned my Windows disk. After installing the new SSD, boot times became very slow—about 62 seconds from power on until the login screen appears, then another 30 seconds to reach the desktop. I now have three drives: two NVMe 1TB units and one SATA 250GB drive. It’s puzzling why the NV1 feels like it takes nearly an hour to boot compared to my old drive.
I don’t have the 256GB eVO ready here. My setup uses Windows only on the 1TB Kingston N1 drive.
All signs suggest a fresh installation. Even though you switched from an SSD with DRAM to one without it, the speed loss shouldn’t be significant.
