Starting with the title in mind, it seems like you're looking to boost your Wi-Fi performance without extra cost. You've already optimized by disconnecting other devices and using a wired connection, but you're still facing slow speeds. Today's performance was decent—around 700kbps upload and 400kbps download—which is still quite low. The frustration comes when updates take a long time, like Forza Horizon 4 taking two days and Warzone over a week. You're not eager for updates anymore, especially when you can barely stream 1080p or watch two people online. You're seeking a way to secure more bandwidth for your PC, possibly reserving a portion of the network for gaming or other tasks. Any tips or solutions could help improve your experience?

I don't have a current internet package assigned. Please specify your location or service provider for more accurate information.

Broadcasting the signal causes issues, as we experience those speeds in the poorest areas of my in-laws' home—up to 30Mb/s on the top floor and down to 10Mb/s in most parts.

You're asking about your location, but the conversation suggests a frustration with internet pricing and speed. It seems like you're questioning whether any changes would actually help you get faster access.

Understood. If you’re staying with her, her guidelines apply. But since you rely on the internet and earn your income, I think it makes sense to cover the full monthly cost from the start.

It's a Wi-Fi router we received from the company. I have a cable going under the floor from the hallway to my gaming room. The wireless connection works on some devices like PCs or laptops, but it's not reliable for long distances. It seems rated for up to 11 Mbps.

I'm a 17-year-old and moving out in the UK isn't really possible unless I accumulate massive debt. House prices here are insane, a flat feels more like something you'd find in the US. My mum grumbles about the WiFi but always blames her phone, then buys Moto's newest phone for £100. She ignores any tech talk I have, even though she's getting a useless device that lasts only about a year. I still use my old pixel from 2017 without issues, but she thinks I'm pushing her to upgrade. It's already frustrating when a game takes a week to download, and I tried to send an email but couldn't.

You could reach out to the ISP to find out why you're missing the 11Mb connection at your home, as they might be able to help troubleshoot. Those newer apartments in your neighborhood are quite costly, often exceeding $300K for a unit.
