Hello everyone, I'm planning to upgrade my 6700k system back to AMD. I'm a bit puzzled about the BIOS updates since I don't have an older chip to work with. Also, I'm unsure which motherboard models are compatible without flashing the BIOS. Any guidance would be really helpful, thank you!
No assurance exists about a specific X570/B550 board functioning. However, you can purchase a board with BIOS flashback capability. This allows you to update the BIOS without requiring a matching CPU initially. Fortunately, many mid and high-end boards offer this option.
You're probably considering an X570 board when purchasing a new setup with a 5950X. Most recent X570 models come ready to use with the 5950X included.

Select a motherboard that includes a BIOS Flashback capability. If you opt for the Ryzen 9 5950x, an X570 is highly suggested—just ensure it’s a solid model. Thanks for the assistance everyone, it feels like we're back in the 90s when AMD was dominant again, huh? It's a shame this specific issue hasn't evolved much. Intel might not be the top choice anymore, but I've grown accustomed to their plug-and-play setup over the last few decades, hehe. I was definitely more lazy in my younger years, and I'm even thinking about using pre-built systems with just a GPU and HDDs. It seems like a smart option for compatibility and ease of use.
