I just finished assembling a new PC with these specifications: NZXT H700i Case, Intel I7-10700k processor, Gigabyte Aorus Z490 Pro, AX, NZXT Kraken X63 AIO, Gigabyte RTX 2070, Samsung 970 Pro NVMe SSD, Samsung 860 QVO SSD. After installation of Windows 10 and driver updates, I noticed a buzzing or static sound inside the case. At first I assumed it was the fans, then thought it might be the SATA drive, followed by the PSU. Eventually I focused on the motherboard, specifically the area near where the audio amp and back IO panel connect. The noise sounds like static or buzzing and has become increasingly bothersome. It only occurs when entering BIOS or safe mode in Windows 10, which makes me wonder if it's a software problem rather than hardware failure. I checked my audio drivers—they were up to date, including the Gigabyte Realtek HD Audio Driver. I also looked into coil whine in the VRM area of the motherboard, as some users reported similar issues after replacing their PSU. Since I moved my old PSU to this new build, it’s possible that the change contributed to the problem. Could coil whine in the VRM be the cause? If so, upgrading to a quieter PSU might help.
