Board for a 3700x
He plans to assemble a PC post-pandemic with a budget of 120,000 INR (about 1300 USD). He’s allocating 20,000 INR (263 USD) for the Dell Ultrashark. The component list includes various RAM and storage options priced in INR. He wants 24 GB of memory, which fits within a B450 Tomahawk Max build. The question is whether this configuration can support an R7 3700X.
I support using 2x16 or 2x8 RAM modules. The Ryzen processor isn't worth trying to overclock because it already performs very well from the start, so any gains from overclocking are minimal. Mostly it leads to more fan noise and higher temperatures.
The advantages of OC are quite minor; you'll only see them when using a stopwatch. Sure, it's possible to push it beyond its limits, but if stability is maintained, you'll get a slight boost. Don't anticipate major improvements.
You're aiming for a fully customized build with maximum performance. It's challenging to stabilize, so you might need to focus on boosting components. With a stock setup, achieving 4.3 GHz across all cores would require significant overclocking. My experience shows that using non-X chips and targeting X-chip specifications usually works better. Before starting this project, I considered getting a 3600 model without the X variant, but I opted for a non-X processor to avoid delays.
It looks like the 3700x isn't ideal for high-end overclocking. Let's focus on Graphics OC and memory tuning instead.
