My brother's computer was built using parts he found secondhand. Windows would frequently crash during startup, showing a BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO message. The installation repair didn't fix the issue, so I transferred the OS to a USB drive and reinstalled it. When I adjusted the UEFI options, the screen would freeze. Regular booting led to a persistent cursor. Clearing CMOS and updating the BIOS didn't help. It's an MSI 970 Gaming with an FX-8320, GTX 960, and 8GB Patriot Viper RAM.

This setup has several potential issues. It might be due to poor RAM, a failing power supply, or a faulty motherboard, especially considering the system's age. Running Memtest86 is the best method to check for RAM problems, provided you can boot from a USB drive. If that doesn't work, it's likely time to replace the whole system.

I attempted to run a test on both RAM and CPU, but it restarted shortly afterward. Now the loading stops at "Testing multiprocessor support," and everything seems to be cascading into problems. One mistake causes more issues. Looks like it might be time for a new setup.
