Bluescreen when overclocking
Bluescreen when overclocking
I experience a blue screen when overclocking the CPU, and I'm uncertain about how to proceed. My computer has been behaving erratically.
I receive a MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION during overclocking.
I reduced my system to Windows 7 because of frequent bluescreens with DirectX and certain games (long story), but it worked fine on Windows 10 when overclocked.
I'm not sure what to do next.
Hardware details:
- Intel i5 4690k @ 3,50ghz
- 16GB RAM
- Evga gtx 970
- Asus z97-p
Pre-bluescreen speeds were around 4500 and 4590.
The process of downgrading and performing a clean installation was completed successfully.
Count Mike asked about the downgrade and clean installation process. He mentioned that Windows 10 allowed him to revert to his earlier operating system.
You need sufficient supplied CPU voltage or Vcore to keep the overclock stable. The voltages you were using for the 4500mhz were approximately 1.220V.
