Blue Screen Occurs Following CPU Overclocking
Hi this is my first post so bear with me. I overclocked my cpu(i7 2600k) and everything is fine except i get random blue screens once in a while. I am listing everything there is to know. thank you.
motherboard:msi p67a-g45
ram:gskill 8 gb 1600mhz
cpu:intel 2600k 3.4 ghz
video card: zotac geforce 580 gtx
windows 7 64bit
power supply: cooler master silent pro 850w
cooler master hyper 212 cpu fan
case: cooler master haf 932
cpu ratio=45 (i overclocked the cpu from 3.4 to 4.5)
internal pll overvoltage=auto
EIST=enabled
Intel Turbo Boost=disabled
Dram frequency=auto
X.M.P=enabled
Spread Spectrum=disabled
Vdroop Control=high
Cpu core Voltage= 1.335 v (i am suspecting that this may be the main thing)
dram voltage=auto
hyper threading=disabled
limit cpuid maximum=disabled
execute disable bit=enabled
intel virtualization tech=enabled
C1E support=enabled
overspeed protection=enabled
intel c-state=enabled
package c-state limit=no limit
Did you encounter the BSOD prior to adjusting your processor's speed?
If not, continue with A.
If yes, follow B.
It seems you don't actually require the dump file. The computer is experiencing crashes due to unstable overclocking. You should consider reducing the frequencies or boosting the voltage until stability is achieved. (I wouldn't recommend increasing the voltages personally.)
consider reducing the frequency from 4.5, as it seems more suitable based on comparable configurations. opting for auto voltage adjustment instead of manual settings could be beneficial.
No. Avoid using AUTO during overclocking. It automatically chooses the CPU frequency the system requests at default settings. I suggest reducing it by 100 MHz incrementally until the crash occurs. Run Prime95 for a full day and observe if it crashes. A friend and I have identical builds; he can reach 4.6 while I'm limited to 4.4. The chip configurations vary significantly.
