PS4 emulation has seen significant progress recently. Likely driven by fans frustrated with delays for remasters or portings, many have taken initiative. The ShadPS4 group successfully launched the game in mid-2024. Since then, the emulator has undergone substantial (and frequent) updates. Today it operates nearly flawlessly. A recent patch enables smooth 60 FPS play and includes Deltatime, resolving the issue where physics and speed often clash. This change also fixes the inconsistent behavior of FromSoft titles when used with third-party tools. The only lingering problem is occasional crashes every few hours. However, because the game consistently saves your progress, losing nothing after a kill or loot means you resume shortly afterward. If you haven’t tried this version yet—or need smoother performance above 30 FPS—now is an ideal time. After playing through the emulation twice, I’m confident it offers the best experience. Installation is straightforward: just need the emulator (available on GitHub), game files (either self-extracted or downloaded), a few mods, and about ten minutes of work. For context, with my current setup (AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4080, 24GB RAM at 1080p), it runs stably at 60 FPS without issues. At 1440p it drops to 50-60 FPS, and 4K performance is limited due to missing textures and crashes. The recommended options for stability are the Vertex Explosion Fix (which reduces customization) and the Cloth Physics Fix (found on Nexusmods).
RPCS4 isn't familiar to me, but ShadPS4 seems to be functioning well for this title. I haven't played any other games yet, so results may vary. Don't anticipate the same smoothness as on a native PC.
It seems the game is still available and functioning properly. That should help you enjoy it without needing a PS4.
The game isn't available for native PC play or a remastered version. It ran at 30 fps on the PS4, and without a 60 fps update, it's not suggested.
It's surprising how easily I misremember things today. Everything checks out perfectly—just got a quick chat with my friend at ND and might be able to secure a discount code.
