Hello, your Skype just rolled out to version 7.1.0.105, and you're seeing ads for the first time—it's unusual and bothersome. No one has found a way to stop these ads, and I've checked several options, but they don't work. Let me know if you need help with anything else.

I've checked the area already, but everyone relies on the same outdated techniques that aren't effective.

I can't send links directly. Could you provide the text or content you'd like me to share?

Hello, press Windows+R and enter C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts OR 1. Move to the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, click on the hosts file and open it (or use Notepad++ if available). 2. Choose your preferred text editor and add the following lines at the bottom: # Skype Ads Blocker 127.0.0.1 rad.msn.com 127.0.0.1 live.rads.msn.com 127.0.0.1 ads1.msn.com 127.0.0.1 static.2mdn.net 127.0.0.1 g.msn.com 127.0.0.1 a.ads2.msads.net 127.0.0.1 b.ads2.msads.net 127.0.0.1 ac3.msn.com # End Skype Ads Blocker 3. Save and restart your Skype app. What you’re doing is preventing the servers Skype uses to fetch ads from. If you encounter any issues after applying this change or wish to view those ads again (just kidding, you need to be tipsy!), remove the lines you added in the hosts file. Hope this assists. PS1: Verified for version 6.16+ PS2: This should not violate the Terms and Conditions/User Agreement with Skype as you’re not altering Skype directly. You’re merely blocking traffic from certain servers (just in case we face a massive ad war).

Open the desired shortcut by typing its path in the search bar, ensure Skype is off. Once done, refrain from launching it again. Navigate to Internet Settings → Security → Restricted Sites → Add apps.skype.com. This secures Skype from default values. Note that skype home access is disabled at app.skype.com/home/, so you can proceed without issues. After completing, launch Skype and enjoy.

I've already identified a fix. If my approach fails, I'll definitely consider yours.
