About a week and a half ago I assembled my initial PC and recently found this white residue on what I think is part of the motherboard VRM or some kind of power delivery unit. It resembles a tiny black plastic piece right above a pair of silver capacitors to the right of my RAM slots. I’ll share an image for clarity. My system still operates normally, just seconds before I ran benchmarks. According to MSI Afterburner, the VRM stayed below 40°C during testing. I’m mainly curious if this indicates a problem severe enough to warrant replacing the board. The motherboard I’m using is an ASRock x570 Phantom Gaming 4, and I’m running it with a Ryzen 5 3600x on stock cooling, Team T-Force Vulcan Z 3200 RAM, a reference XFX RX 5700, a 256GB Sabrent Rocket SSD as the boot drive, a 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD, an Intel A200 WiFi 6 M.2 card, and an EVGA 700 GD power supply. I don’t overclock it except when applying XMP profiles to the RAM.
