I recently assembled a new computer with these specifications. An AMD Ryzen 5 9600X at 3.9 GHz, a 6-core processor, a Thermalright Peerless Assassin cooler, and a GIGABYTE B850 CPU cooler. The motherboard is a GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9060 XT with PCIe 5.0, and it comes with 16GB of DDR5 RAM (2x16GB). The power supply is a Corsair RM850e with 850W output. When everything was set up, my PC would randomly shut down without warning, except during idle mode. It would work when running games, but not consistently. I tried several fixes: reinstalling drivers, reseating the GPU and cables, adjusting the PCIe slot in BIOS to Gen4, and even reinstalling Windows. I noticed the VGA light would flicker on during boot but disappear after restarting. The black screen only appeared when testing GPU stress, and the power cables seemed secure. I’m unsure what’s causing this issue and need guidance.

A monitor cable can trigger a PC crash by disrupting power delivery or causing electrical interference, leading to hardware instability or shutdown.

What is your monitor's refresh rate and resolution? Did you connect the cable that came with it?

It's a 144 Hz display, and the connection included with it.

If your DP cable isn't suitable, it might cause issues with the GPU and lead to crashes. HDMI can also be affected in similar ways.

It seems you were aware the device uses a DP connection. If the HDMI cable supports the required data speed for 144Hz resolution, it should work fine. The PIN 25 might be improperly connected and causing issues with the I/O on the 9060XT—fix it soon. Manufacturers sometimes provide incorrect DP cables, which is common with Samsung products.

I switched to an HDMI cable, I'll check if that resolves the issue.

Hoping so too. I only recall the 5700 XT disaster from a long time ago.

Well then, if it were to happen again, would you be considered cooked?
