I adjusted my laptop's resolution from 1600x900 to 1920x1080 and lowered the refresh rate to 144Hz. I also changed the display settings from 60Hz to 144Hz. Despite knowing the screen was only 1600x900 at 60Hz, the change caused the display to go black. I stopped using it after about two hours.

Connect the laptop to an external screen if available, then adjust its display settings to the correct resolution.

Yes, it displays the bios and then transitions to a black screen upon loading into Windows.

The system should remain visible in the BIOS even after a hard restart. It must wait until Windows fully loads before displaying the incompatible resolution. If no BIOS appears at all, that’s a warning sign. How did you adjust the display settings? Was it only through Windows Display Settings or did you use a third-party tool such as Nvidia Control Panel? It’s possible the display panel was damaged during the adjustment, which could mean replacing it might be necessary depending on the laptop’s age, model, and specifications. It may be wiser to purchase a new laptop if needed.
